A un mese dalla premiazione fissata per il 7 marzo, come al solito Anne Hathaway e il presidente dell’Academy hanno annunciato le nominations agli Oscar, nell’anno in cui si assiste alla rivoluzione – o meglio scaltra mossa commerciale per aumentare gli investimenti pubblicitari – di una lista di candidati a miglior film aumentata a 10. Tra questi, i due grandi contendenti sono Avatar, il sontuoso kolossal di James Cameron, e The Hurt Locker, il sorprendente film bellico di Katherine Bigelow, che si sono portati a casa 9 nominations a testa e i maggiori premi precedenti gli Oscar. Gli altri candidati sono The Blind Side, District 9, An Education, Precious, A Serious Man, Tra le nuvole, Bastardi senza gloria e Up, ultimi due sui quali riponiamo il nostro tifo.
La competizione per la migliore regia ovviamente riguarda il terzetto di favoriti, certo Cameron e Bigelow, ma anche Tarantino, i cui Bastardi racimolano 8 candidature, e anche qui si tifa per il ragazzaccio d’origine italiane: gli altri due nominati sono Lee Daniels per Precious e Jason Reitman per Tra le nuvole (il suo film migliore). Nelle sceneggiature ci piace segnalare la presenza dei Coen per A Serious Man, e le sorprese In the Loop e The Messenger, co-scritto per altro dall’italiano Alessandro Camon.
Per passare agli attori qui i giochi paiono quasi fatti, con Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart) probabile vincitore come attore protagonista e Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side), che vinto gran parte dei premi della stagione, a scacciare l’assalto dell’inossidabile Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia) come attrice; tra i non protagonisti lo stesso pochi dubbi con Mo’nique (Precious) a menare le danze contro le due nominate per Tra le nuvole, ossia Anna Kendrick e Vera Farmiga, e Christoph Waltz, monumentale nazista per Tarantino che ha davvero pochi rivali. Ultime notazioni per il film animato, in cui Up ha davvero già vinto vista anche la nomination come miglior film, e per il film straniero, in cui la lotta tra il francese Il profeta (di Audiard) e l’austriaco Il nastro bianco (di Haneke) può essere disturbata dall’outsider peruviano Il canto di Palma, vincitore dell’Orso d’oro a Berlino.
